Joe Kurian was born and brought up in Kerala State, South India of Christian parents. Father (Late Pastor P.C.Chacko) was a leader and Overseer of the Church of God in India. His Maternal grandfather (Late Pastor T M Varughese) was one of the pioneers of the Church of God in India who has joined Rev Robert F Cook since the mid 1920's
Joe has been involved in Pastoral ministries since 1975.After graduating from the Mount Zion Bible Institute in Kerala with a Diploma in 1978 he was invloved in pastoral, youth and teaching ministries.
In 1980 married to Simone. Both went together for further Bible Ministry Training in Australia. Received a further Diploma and a Bachelors’ in Ministry. Returned to India to continue the Pastoral and Teaching Ministries in the Church of God in 1983.
Pastor Joe was appointed by the Church of God World Missions in 1985 to pioneer a work among the Asian Indians in London, England. Started the Southall Church of God and leading the church since. 1992-93 went to attend theChurch of God School of Theology in Cleveland, TN., U.S.A. Served as the Director of Asian Ministries. Helped to organize several churches throughout the United Kingdom including Srilankan Tamil, Punjabi, Pakistani, Malayalam, Romanian, Fijian and others. He was promoted to the ministerial rank of Ordianed Bishop in the Church of God in 1989 and has been travelling widely in Europe, Asia and the USA for preaching, teaching and other ministerial engagements.
The European Thelogical Seminary has awarded an honorary Doctorate in 1998 for the outstanding work of Pastor Kurian in the Cross Cultural church planting and minsterial leadership.
Currently he is serving the Church of God as the District Overseer/Director of the Cross Cultural District/Ministries. Currently there are 35 Churches and 6 Mission Stations in the District. Elected to the National Executive Committee of the New Testament Church of God in 1999. Also served as a member of the PC UK working Committee (Pentecostal Churches in United Kingdom) representing the Church of God in England.
Our Pastor's passion and heart’s cry is to see the total membership of the Christian church mobilized to fulfil the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. He enjoys reading motivational/devotional books, periodicals etc.. And worship songs,good old hymns and love to sing them. He believes that Christ like Character is more important than world-wide fame and Charisma (gifts), and that quality attracts quantity. God gave Joe and Simone three beautiful and gifted children Phoebe Merrie, Timothy Jacob and Rachel Ann
